ARCO National Construction is proud to celebrate the grand opening of Sun Noodle's new production and cold storage facility and 45th anniversary in Compton, California. The September 12 event brought together Sun Noodle team members, project partners, families, and guests to recognize both the opening of the new facility and the company’s continued growth since its founding in Hawai‘i in 1981.
The 23,000-square-foot facility brings production, refrigerated storage, warehouse, and support functions together in one location. Key spaces include 7,711 square feet of dry warehouse, a 4,700-square-foot -10°F freezer, a 1,224-square-foot 36°F cooler, an 884-square-foot 36°F cold dock, and a 1,322-square-foot mezzanine.
The facility also supports five noodle production lines, including two semi-automated lines, along with the specialized equipment needed for mixing, rolling, cutting, molding, and packaging. Additional infrastructure includes four dock positions, a 1,600 amp electrical service, and a Freon refrigeration system serving the temperature-controlled areas.
ARCO became involved early in the project while Sun Noodle was still evaluating the lease and determining how the space could best support its operational goals. What began as a more limited freezer renovation grew into a full production and cold storage facility, allowing the team to align layout, budget, and long-term operational needs before construction moved forward.
The Compton project also continues an established relationship between ARCO and Sun Noodle. ARCO previously partnered with the company on a 7,200-square-foot freezer and cold dock renovation in Carlstadt, New Jersey, giving the team familiarity with Sun Noodle’s specialized production and cold storage requirements across multiple markets.
The grand opening provided an opportunity to celebrate not only the completed facility, but also the people and partnerships behind Sun Noodle’s continued growth. ARCO is proud to have supported this next chapter and congratulates the Sun Noodle team on 45 years in business and the opening of its new Southern California facility.
