La Chiquita

TORTILLA PRODUCTION FACILITY ADDITION IN ATLANTA, GA

Designed and Built for La Chiquita, this project is a 44,700 total square foot tortilla production facility addition.

This 44,700 SF addition to a tortilla production facility accommodates production, packaging, warehousing, a 36°F cold dock, and office spaces. The expansion involved coordinating production lines and equipment for mixing, baking, frying, and cooling processes. The structure is built with concrete tilt-up wall panels, steel roof framing, and a TPO roof for durability and energy efficiency.

The interior features insulated metal panel (IMP) walls throughout, along with a walkable IMP ceiling in the production areas. Cementitious urethane concrete coating and polished concrete floors provide a durable, hygienic surface for the production environment. New utility services were installed, including domestic water, sanitary sewer, and electrical upgrades. Connections for natural gas, cold water, hot water, and power were integrated to support the production equipment.

A 1,500-gallon grease interceptor and 3,000-amp electrical service were added to handle the increased capacity. Despite the construction, the existing facility remained fully operational, ensuring continuous production without disruptions. This expansion enhanced production efficiency and allowed for seamless integration of the new systems and utilities.
