ARCO National Construction has completed a 141,024-square-foot, two-building cold storage facility renovation for Performance Food Group in Portland, Oregon. The completion of the project builds on the previously delivered first phase and provides PFG with an integrated mix of dry, refrigerated, and frozen storage space designed to support efficient food distribution operations throughout the region.
Building A includes 130,113 square feet of renovated space, featuring an 83,481-square-foot dry warehouse, 15,684 square feet of 34°F cooler space, and 15,534 square feet of office. Additional temperature-controlled areas include a 5,715-square-foot 40°F cold dock, a 4,330-square-foot 28°F freezer, a 3,541-square-foot 55°F cooler, and a 1,828-square-foot 45°F cooler.
The second phase expanded the operation into Building B with the addition of a 10,911-square-foot -10°F freezer. A new driveway connector between the two buildings supports the movement of products and personnel across the campus, bringing both facilities together as a more cohesive distribution operation.
The renovation incorporated box-in-box construction and a transcritical CO2 refrigeration system to provide reliable temperature control across the facility’s range of cold storage environments. Building A also features a 32-foot clear height, 13 new vertical cold storage dock positions, and one drive-in ramp to support receiving and distribution activities.
Infrastructure improvements included new 3,000 amp and 1,200 amp electrical services with a mobile generator cabinet. The project also added a new 2,000 GPM electric fire pump and exterior pump house to support the expanded facility.
The completed two-phase project strengthens Performance Food Group’s cold storage and distribution capabilities in Portland while providing the specialized spaces and infrastructure needed to support long-term operational performance.
