MEAT DISTRIBUTION FACILITY EXPANSION IN RICHMOND, MI

Designed and Built for Weeks Food, this cold storage project is a 21,515 total square foot meat distribution facility expansion.

This 21,515 SF expansion of a meat distribution facility was designed to enhance cold storage capacity and operational efficiency. It includes a 10,231 SF 34°F - 36°F cooler, a 6,232 SF 36°F cold dock, and a 4,795 SF -10°F freezer. Constructed using insulated metal panels (IMP), the facility achieves fire-rated separation of cold storage spaces without the need for fire suppression systems.

The facility's infrastructure is built for durability and efficiency, featuring a 60-mil TPO roof system, a 28' clear height, and six dock positions to streamline logistics. It is powered by a 1,200-amp electrical service and a Freon refrigeration system to ensure reliable cooling for perishable products.

Additionally, the site development includes significant upgrades, such as connecting to city utilities and decommissioning the existing sanitary field system, ensuring compliance with modern environmental and operational standards. This expansion exemplifies a commitment to maintaining cold chain integrity while accommodating growth in meat distribution operations.
