ARCO Completes Latest Project for TradePoint Atlantic & Volkswagen

ARCO COMPLETES LATEST PROJECT FOR TRADEPOINT ATLANTIC & VOLKSWAGEN

ARCO recently completed its latest project for repeat client TradePoint Atlantic and end-user Volkswagen in Baltimore, Maryland! The project includes 78,720 SF and 87,570 SF vehicle processing facilities, as well as extensive paving on the 115-acre site. The vehicle processing facilities feature a 45,640 SF cell processing area, 9,520 SF off-line processing, and a 13,300 SF body shop. Additional features include a 5,400 SF, 2-story office and a stand alone car wash, fuel island, guardhouse and two trucker offices.

The massive multimodal logistics center is able to handle an estimated 120,000 vehicles per year and created approximately 100 new full-time jobs. The vehicles imported through the new location are shipped to dealerships throughout the Mid-Atlantic, with the Sparrows Point site offering connections to two Class I railroads and close proximity to Interstate 95.

This marks the 11th project ARCO has partnered with TradePoint Atlantic to complete on the 150-acre brownfield site in Baltimore, Maryland. Learn more about the transformation of the former steel mill into a thriving industrial park here. 

ARCO brought a tremendous amount of knowledge and expertise to this project, particularly regarding the brownfield Sparrows Point site. Because they have completed several projects in the surrounding area in the past, they were aware of potential issues and provided us with accurate site-specific costs. This helped us from both a budgeting and scheduling standpoint. Additionally, although we were operating under a fast-paced schedule, ARCO remained accommodating to our changing needs. Although we made several design changes as we went along, they were able to maintain our original budget and schedule. In fact, they finished the project early and below our budget. ARCO's dedication to providing us with the best possible facility was apparent throughout the entire project. Their design-build process made incorporating changes easy and the expertise of their staff proved invaluable from start to finish. We couldn't be prouder of our new logistics center and are grateful to ARCO for the role they played in its success. The Volkswagen team and I look forward to continuing our partnership with ARCO in the future.
