ARCO National Construction Completes 1.3 Million Square Foot Florida Distribution Facility & Showroom for CITY Furniture

ARCO NATIONAL CONSTRUCTION COMPLETES 1.3 MILLION SQUARE FOOT FLORIDA DISTRIBUTION FACILITY & SHOWROOM FOR CITY FURNITURE

ARCO National Construction recently partnered with repeat client CITY Furniture to bring a 1,388,444 SF distribution facility and showroom to Plant City, Florida. The 87-acre development includes more than 1,000,000 SF of warehouse space, as well as a nearly 200,000 SF, two-story showroom making it one of the largest furniture destinations in the state. Strategically located along the I-4 corridor between Orlando and Tampa, the facility houses the company’s headquarters and features signature CITY Furniture amenities including the KC Café and Wine Bar, CITY Marketplace, and Mattress Gallery within the large-scale showroom.

Additionally, the project is expected to bring approximately 500 new jobs to the local market which are expected to pay higher than average wages for the Plant City area, as well as offer benefits. ARCO and CITY Furniture are also working together to earn LEED® certification for the building. Energy-efficient features include LED lighting throughout the warehouse and showroom, a solar-ready design, and electric vehicle parking spaces to be utilized by customers and the community. The project also includes an onsite compressed natural gas filling station which CITY Furniture will utilize for its fleet of delivery trucks.

The development also features 39’ clear height, 226 dock positions, two escalators, two material lifts, uninsulated tilt-up construction at the warehouse, and insulated tilt-up construction at the showroom.

This is the second project ARCO and CITY Furniture have partnered on, previously completing a 250,000 SF distribution facility and showroom in Ocoee, Florida.

CITY Furniture recently partnered with ARCO National Construction on our new 1,388,444 SF warehouse and showroom in Plant City, Florida. The project included a nearly 200,000 SF, two-story showroom and over 1,000,000 SF of warehouse space. Because the project would serve as our corporate headquarters and flagship facility, we knew we needed a qualified contractor that understood our business and goals. Having previously worked with ARCO on our 246,000 SF warehouse and showroom in Ocoee, Florida, we knew we were in good hands.
From the very beginning, ARCO worked to understand and achieve our vision for our new facility, from warehouse functionality to showroom design and flow. The finished product for both components not only met but exceeded the high standards associated with the CITY Furniture brand. Their attention to detail ensured that the showroom provided the signature experience our customers have come to expect when visiting any CITY Furniture location, including key elements such as our KC Café and Wine Bar, CITY Marketplace, and Mattress Gallery.
Additionally, construction of our facility took place when the market was experiencing significant supply chain challenges. To avoid delays, ARCO worked proactively to ensure our project remained on track. For example, when original design components were delayed, ARCO redesigned the entire building electrical service entrance so that the project schedule was not impacted. They also made completing our showroom finishes on time a priority and utilized temporary cooling when there were procurement delays with the HVAC system. ARCO also implemented creative design solutions like a prefabricated design of the customer pickup canopy rather than utilizing columns, joists, and deck, which resulted in significant cost savings.
We faced severe weather challenges throughout construction, including tropical storm Nicole. While this understandably impacted the overall project schedule, ARCO was able to obtain TCO for the showroom in late November. This allowed us to begin operations before the peak holiday shopping season.
Based on our experience working with ARCO National Construction, I am confident in recommending them for any construction project. Their professionalism, attention to detail, proactive problem-solving, and commitment to delivering high-quality results make them an excellent partner.
