Stericycle

MEDICAL WASTE FACILITY IN MCCARRAN, NEVADA

Built for Stericycle, this 105,575 SF medical waste facility in Northern Nevada processes hospital, infectious, and pharmaceutical waste through advanced incineration systems.

Located within the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center, this 105,575 SF flagship incineration facility for Stericycle was developed to support the safe processing of hospital, medical, and infectious waste through advanced incineration and emissions-control technology. The highly secure facility features two rotary kilns operating at 1,700 degrees Fahrenheit, extensive emissions reclamation systems, closed-loop industrial water recycling, and heat recovery systems that generate steam energy for facility operations. The project required more than 120,000 construction labor hours and includes over 800 miles of electrical cabling, 20,000 linear feet of piping, and 2.2 million pounds of industrial equipment. Designed with multiple system redundancies and backup power capabilities, the facility is engineered to operate continuously while exceeding stringent federal and state emissions standards. ARCO constructed the building shell as part of the project team.
