Aircraft Maintenance & Mechanic Training Facility in Chicago, IL
Designed and built for Aviation Institute of Maintenance, this project is a 140,000 SF aircraft maintenance & mechanic training facility.
This 140,000 SF buildout transformed a new spec warehouse in Chicago’s Bridgeport community into a vocational training facility for a national aviation mechanic school. The space includes a tool room, 19 classrooms, student lounge, reception area, admissions office, private offices, testing rooms, and an aircraft hangar.
The facility includes a new welding workshop with 20 individual stations, a 1,800 SF composition lab, two battery charging stations, a paint booth, hose reels with power, and aircraft tie-off anchors in the hangar and storage areas. Epoxy flooring covers 35,000 SF, and LED high-bay light fixtures were installed in the hangar and storage space.
Interior finishes include storefront glass at the lobby, wood door vision lites, custom millwork, and painted finishes. Classrooms and administrative spaces feature LVT flooring and 2'x4' LED light fixtures.
HVAC scope includes two new 40-ton rooftop units, 19 VAVs, 12 FPBs, 9 exhaust fans, 2 high-volume low-speed fans, a make-up air unit, an air-cooled condensing unit, and two compressors with a compressed air loop.
