International Aerospace Coatings (IAC), a global leader in aircraft painting and aviation services, is partnering with design-build general contractor ARCO National Construction on the development of a 74,920-square-foot widebody aircraft hangar at Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport (AMA). A groundbreaking ceremony took place on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at 10:00am at the project site – 10801 Baker Street, Amarillo, TX 79111.

The new hangar marks IAC’s second widebody hangar and sixth overall at AMA, further strengthening its 30-year presence in Amarillo. Once complete, it will be capable of accommodating all commercial aircraft types up to a Boeing 777-X, along with a 5,000 square foot storage building.

“For over 30 years, Amarillo has been a vital part of IAC’s global operations,” said Martin O’Connell, CEO of IAC. “This expansion reflects our continued commitment to the region and marks an exciting milestone in our long-term growth strategy. We’re proud to invest in our future here and look forward to delivering world-class service from this new facility.”

To support IAC’s painting operations, the facility will feature hazardous paint mixing and storage rooms, a wastewater treatment room, and a 75-horsepower, oil-free air compressor paired with a 2,000-gallon air receiver tank, with six strategically placed air drops throughout the hangar.

The hangar will also feature a ventilation system providing a three-and-half air changes per hour, ensuring optimal air quality control, 3,000-AMP electrical service, and a durable standing seam metal roof.

“ARCO is proud to support IAC by providing design-build expertise tailored to meet their unique operational needs and high industry standards,” said Jason Grant, Executive and Operating Partner for ARCO National Construction. “We look forward to delivering this best-in-class facility for the aerospace industry and are honored to play a role in helping IAC expand their global footprint.”
