AUTOMATED SORTING FACILITY IN OCEANSIDE, CA
Designed and built for Scannell Properties, this project is a 290,000-total-square-foot automated sorting facility completed for FedEx Ground.
This project consists of an approximately 290,000 SF automated sorting facility developed as part of a 12-parcel site redevelopment. The building includes an approximately 180,000 SF sloped floor slab loading area designed to support high-volume automated material flow. Support spaces include an approximately 20,000 SF office, a 0 SF computer room, a 0 SF security building, and a 10,000 SF vehicle maintenance building, providing operational, security, and fleet support functions.
The facility is constructed with exterior concrete load-bearing tilt-up panels, delivering structural efficiency and durability. The roof structure is engineered to accommodate future solar panel installation, and is finished with a 45-mil Class A white TPO roof system for long-term performance. Shipping and receiving operations are supported by ninety-nine dock positions, enabling simultaneous high-throughput loading and unloading.
Site improvements include an on-site bioswale stormwater clarification system to manage runoff and support environmental compliance, along with seventy-seven architectural sound walls constructed along the site perimeter to mitigate noise impacts. The facility was engineered to support automated operations, large-scale logistics, and long-term adaptability.
