ARCO National Construction has officially broken ground on a new widebody aircraft hangar for International Aerospace Coatings (IAC) at Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport. The 74,920-square-foot facility will be IAC’s second widebody hangar and sixth overall at AMA, underscoring the company’s 30-year commitment to the Amarillo community. The groundbreaking ceremony was held Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at the project site located at 10801 Baker Street in Amarillo, Texas.

Designed to accommodate all commercial aircraft types up to a Boeing 777-X, the new hangar will expand IAC’s industry-leading painting and aviation services. The project also includes a 5,000-square-foot storage building to further support operational efficiency. To meet the specialized needs of IAC’s painting operations, the facility will feature hazardous paint mixing and storage rooms, a wastewater treatment room, and a 75-horsepower, oil-free air compressor paired with a 2,000-gallon air receiver tank with six strategically placed air drops throughout the hangar.

Additional building systems include a ventilation system that provides three-and-a-half air changes per hour to maintain optimal air quality, a 3,000-AMP electrical service to power advanced operations, and a durable standing seam metal roof for long-term performance.

With this expansion, IAC continues to grow its U.S. operations while ARCO National Construction delivers a purpose-built solution that meets the unique technical demands of the aerospace industry.
