Design-build general contractor ARCO National Construction is partnering with International Aerospace Coatings (IAC), a leading provider of aircraft painting and coating services, on the renovation of two aircraft hangars totaling 46,000 square feet in Fort Worth, Texas.
The project consists of two 23,000-square-foot side-by-side hangar renovations designed to support advanced aircraft painting and coating operations. The upgrades will enhance environmental control, lighting performance, and mechanical systems to meet the stringent requirements associated with aerospace coating applications and MRO environments.
Mechanical upgrades include the implementation of a high-performance HVAC system engineered to deliver five air changes per hour, as well as installation of new exhaust fans and make-up air units to ensure proper airflow, contaminant control, and compliance with industry standards for aircraft painting and finishing operations.
The hangars will be outfitted with explosion-proof LED lighting systems capable of delivering 93 foot-candles of illumination at the work surface, improving visibility while meeting hazardous location requirements.
Additional upgrades include the demolition of existing infrared heating and legacy lighting systems, along with the installation of a galvanized rooftop steel platform to support new mechanical equipment. Interior structural steel framing will also be incorporated to accommodate new HVAC ductwork and distribution systems throughout the hangars.
